MARGAO: Tilamol United Sports Club and Our Lady of Health High School Cuncolim sailed in to the quarter-finals of All-Goa Alvernaz and Lalush Alemao memorial under-14 football tournament at church ground, Chinchinim, Tuesday.
In the first match, Tilamol United thrashed Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School 5-1 after leading 2-0 at the half time.
Tilamol United took the lead in the fifth minute when Alton Faria’s rasping strike stunned the rival goalkeeper.
They doubled the lead through Norman Dias. Alton and Myron Dias scored two quick goals to make it 4-0.
However, Fr Agnel reduced the deficit through Shivraj Bahadur, who punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
In the final quarter, Tilamol United’s Swindon Fernandes drove the last nail into the rival coffin late with a neat finish.
In another match, Our Lady of Health High School, Cuncolim edged past Cortalim Gymkhna 4-3 via the tie-breaker. The teams were locked goalless at the end of the regulation period.
In the penalty shoot-out, Akash Singh, Ashwin Fernandes, Jaison Fernandes and Alvito Fernandes scored for Our Lady of Health while Roshan Soares, Wellington D’Souza and Denver converted for Cortalim Gymkhana.
