CALANGUTE: Tivai Vaddo beat Umta Vaddo by a solitary goal to emerge as winners of the 4th Adolf Silveira Memorial Rolling trophy Calangute inter-ward football tournament organised by Calangute United, at Calangute Association ground, on Sunday.
This is the second back-to-back tournament victory for Tivai Vaddo.
The first half ended in a goalless draw.
Melwin Lobo scored the all important goal for Tivai Vaddo in the 40th minute off a powerful left footer from the edge of the penalty box.
The winners and runners-up were awarded cash prize of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively plus trophies.
Delilah Lobo, Sarpanch of Village Panchayat Parra was the chief guest Dattaprasad Dabholkar – Zilla Panchayat Member Calangute gave away the prizes in the presence of Anthony Menezes – President of Calangute United & Ex. Sarpanch of VP Calangute, Abelina Menezes – Ex ZP member, Calangute, Alirio Lobo, President of Calangute Association, Digamber Haldankar – Ex Salgaonkar football player and other dignitaries.
