PANJIM: The Compassion Sports Academy in collaboration with Team Merge from the US organised a beach volleyball camp consisting of Goan coaches and players from across South India, at Colva beach, recently.
Practical lessons were held combined with classroom sessions at a beach resort. Amina Pereira, who is the star international beach volleyball Goan player, along with veteran of over five decades of volleyball experience Betty D’Silva and the most experienced coach-cum-player Milagrine Mascarenhas were the Goan participants.
The players from South India Vijaylakshmi Kannan, Florence Nightingale, Karthika, Prema, Pavithra and Priyadarshini, all who have a great talent and experience playing in several all-India volleyball tournaments including beach volleyball along with the Life Sports Academy coach Thomas participated in the three-day camp consisting of training and competition.
The first three sessions were focused mainly on the theory and practice sessions while the remaining sessions were competitive matches pairing with players from the United States of America Team Merge.
