PANJIM: Sportspersons representing the State at various National events will now be entitled to enhanced travel and daily allowances, as a per a decision arrived at the AGM of SAG on Tuesday.
The daily allowance of Rs 300 has been raised to Rs 500 while the railway accomodation has been elevated from sleeper class to 3-Tier AC. These proposals are pending the approval from the Finance Department.
Similarly, there was a proposal to raise the kit allowance from Rs 2000 to Rs 3000.
The SAG will fill up the seven vacancies available in the Coaching Department, with hockey, sailing and yachting getting new coaches.
While the Triahtlon association has been granted permanent recognition, associations governing wushu, gymnastics and squash have been granted temporary recognition. Four clubs also have been given temporary recognition.
Gym instructor Mahesh Kavlekar has been redesignated as Weightlifting coach. The former Goan star bodybuilder is a NIS-diploma holder and his redsignation was considered as a special case.
