PANJIM: The TriGoa Foundation of Panaji will be organising the first, 100 km endurance cycle ride of the season on October 4.
This ride will be held separately in both Panjim and Margao areas to suit both, North and South Goa cyclists.
Announcing this in a media release issued in the city on Monday, Rajesh Malhotra, founder, TriGoa Foundation said that there would also be a 50 km ride for new cyclists held on the same day in both above mentioned areas.
“The 100km cycle rides were being organised to encourage new riders to experience the International Audax Brevet format( 200km, 300km, 400km and 600km cycle rides) and to offer experienced endurance cyclists a practice ride to kick start the brevet season in October 2020. Malhotra added that this was not a “race” and cyclists needed to finish the ride in the allotted time to earn a finisher medal, said Malhotra.
“All participants must wear a mask and maintain safe distance at start/finish and all control points and also follow all Covid-19 guidelines set by the authorities. Participant must be 15 years of age to register for the event, but riders less than 18 years of age needed to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.”
In Panjim, the 100km cycle ride will start at the Probyk cycle store at St Inez at 6:30 a.m. and end at 2 p.m., while the 50 km cycle ride will start at 6:45 a.m. and end at 10:45 a.m.. Similarly, in Margao, both the cycle rides will start and end at similar timings from near the Multipurpose High school.
Malhotra said that both cycle rides were self-supported, but there would be a control vehicle enroute and an ambulance on call.
