TriGoa to conduct four-city, 100km cycle ride on November 8

PANJIM: The Panjim based TriGoa Foundation will organise the second edition of its ‘TriGoa Multi-City Century Ride’ on November 8.

In what will be a unique ride, cyclists can attempt a 100km endurance ride from the city of their choice, be it Panjim, Margao, Ponda or Vasco.

All the rides will begin at 6:30 a.m. and cyclists will be given seven and a half hours to complete the ride.

In a media release issued, Rajesh Malhotra, founder, TriGoa Foundation said, “This is a unique, 100km ride, where cyclists from the four, major Goan cities will start simultaneously and cross each other along the route. While Panjim and the Vasco riders will move in a clock-wise direction, Ponda and Margao riders will move in an anti-clock direction. Special arrangements for breakfast, snacks, ice-cream and juices have been made in each city along the route to keep the cyclists hydrated and energised.”

Participants eligible for the ride must be minimum 15 years of age to register for the event, but a parent or guardian will have to ride alongside cyclists below the age of 18.

“This was a ‘self supported’ ride and no mechanical support would be provided along the route. “No pick-up option will be provided by the organisers along the route and participants will have to arrange their own transport if they decide to quit midway,” added Malhotra.

“Also, we insist that all cyclists will have to wear masks and line up keeping safe distance at the start, finish and all control points. All Covid-19 guidelines set by the authorities must be followed,” Malhotra said.
