VICTORIOUS: The players of Loyola HS, Margao,
receiving the South Goa under-15 Coca Cola Mir Iqbal
Hussain Trophy from Elvis Gomes in the presence of
Anthony Pango and others at panchayat ground,
Raia, Wednesday.

Loyola could not take full advantage of their dominance in the first half. The Margao school created at least three good scoring opportunities but rival defender Schubert D’Costa was rock solid and thwarted the rival attacks with neat tackles.

Loyola almost surged but Lenin D’Mello blasted wide after he was put on the platter by Joldrin D’Costa.

At the other end, Marina English pushed for the elusive match-winner and they attacked the rival citadel regularly but their forwards were guilty of muffing gilt edged chances.

Loyola did create chances upfront but strikers Ashlon Rodrigues and Joldrin D’Costa failed to get past the defensive line marshaled by Schubert.

The second half was spread out evenly as Marina English High School launched a few counterattacks while Loyola withstood the pressure as their defenders stood tall in protecting the citadel intact.

In the tie-breaker, Lynol Fernandes, Jason Goes and Sam Noronha were on target for Loyola while only Schubert converted for Marina English.

Elvis Gomes, SAG’s executive director was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Anthony Pango, GFA executive member.
