PANJIM: United Club of Nerul edged past Betalbatim Sports Club 3-1 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of Mardol Trophy football tournament organized by United Sports Club Mardol at Mardol ground. The teams were locked 1-1 at full time.
Nerul surged ahead through Sanket Jotkar but their joy was shortlived as Denzil equalized for Betalbatim.
In the tie-breaker, Felix Barreto and Pio D’Souza scored for Nerul while Betalbatim failed to convert from the spot-kick.
Nerul will now take on Maina Sports Club in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
