GUIRDOLIM: UC Seraulim scrape through on penalties defeating CAC, Cansaulim, 5-2, to move into the semifinals of Guirdolim Panchayat Cup organised by Guirdolim Club at Chandor church complex ground, on Monday.
UC Seraulim found themselves in the lead in the very first minute when a defence splitting pass by Ronaldo Coelho was collected by Mohsin Sayed who coolly placed the ball to the left of an on-rushing Cansaulim keeper.
Stung by the early setback, the Cansaulim boys regrouped and started putting pressure on the Seraulim defence but Seraulim held their ground.
Changing over, Cansaulim got the equalizer when Elvino Fernandes scored from the penalty spot. A counter attack in the 60th minute led by Ronaldo Coelho, who dribbled past a couple of Cansaulim players and lobbed the ball over the defence to Senato Fernandes who’s power packed shot gave no chance to the Cansaulim keeper.
In the last minute of the match a snap shot by Melwyn Gama from top of the box gave no chance to the Seraulim keeper. The match ended 2-2 at regulation time.
In the tiebreaker, Selvoy, Adriel and Senato scored for UC Seraulim. Malcolm Fernandes of UC Seraulim was awarded the man-of-the-match by Andrew Ferrao, GFA, ex-co member.
