Umtavaddo A defeated Sauntavaddo A 8-7 via the sudden death after both teams were involved in a 1-1 draw to move into the quarter-finals of the Calangute Panchayat Cup inter-ward football tournament organised by Calangute Association at Poriat ground, Calangute on Thursday.
Umtavaddo shot into the lead in the 10th minute through Gilbert. Sauntavaddo fought back and levelled the score in the dying minutes through Vishal Vaigankar.
Philino, Domnic, Marshal, Edward, Andy, Raghuvir and Rohan converted for Umtavaddo A while Agnelo, Vishal, Gajan, Raul, Vishal and Jonathan were on target for Sauntavaddo A.
The tournament was kicked off by Calangute sarpanch, Alex Fernandes in the presence of chief guest Alex Miranda, former Dempo footballer.
