Undisputed Vernon bags title

PANJIM: Vernon Colaco, a student of Manovikas School, Margao won the U-11 Salcete Taluka Chess championship, organized by Chess RCC Fatorda, Margao, recently.
Vernon remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. In the final round Vernon got the better of Jugan Rodrigues with the white pieces while on the second board, Reuben Colaco outplayed Siddhi Mapsekar to secure the second place.
Sairaj Vernekar defeated Mayuri Chari to settle for the third place.
The standings are as follows.
U-11: 1st Colaco Vernon Jesus, 2nd Colaco Reuben, 3rd Sairaj Dilip Vernekar, 4th Jugan Sales Rodrigues, 5th Shirodkar Aayush, Alaya Vella D’Cruz. 
Age category prizes are as follows:
In the U-7 Boy’s category, Kamat Aarav bagged the top position while Patil Shriya topped the Girl’s category with Saisha Kambli finishing second. 
The first and second places in the U-9 Boy’s event went to Ruturaj Dessai and Naik Avish.
In the U-9 Girl’s event the first and second places went to Mayanka Arsekar and Riya Kamat.
The prizes were given by chief guest Ashesh Keni, vice-president of Goa Chess Association and President of STCA in the presence of other dignitaries.
