United Boys of Dando move into last eight

BENAULIM: United Boys of Dando, Colva prevailed over fighting St Cruz Club of Cavelossim 5-3 in the tie breaker to enter the quarter-finals of the 12th Bebe Costa memorial inter-village football tournament, at St John the Baptist ground, Benaulim, on Saturday.

Colva started brightly but striker Baptist Fernandes wasted two open sitters. 
SCC Cavelossim defended with agility however their defence was broken Colva’s lanky defender Maxson Fernandes to tapped the ball home to take the lead.
Post resumption, Cavelossim’s persistent efforts finally bore fruits when hardworking medio Cristben Estibeiro found striker Bryson Cardozo unmarked in the box to fire the ball past Colva goalkeeper Romario Fernandes. 
As there were no further goals the tie-breaker was applied in which UBD Colva were successful through Nelson Gomes, Romario Fernandes, Maxson Fernandes and Rony Fernandes while Chistben Estibeiro and Valerio Cardozo scored for Cavelossim. 
Earlier the Chief Guest Trevor Pinto ex sarpanch kicked off the tournament and was introduced to the teams by Remy Fernandes  and Anthony Fernandes GFA Executive Committee Member.
