CHINCHINIM: United Boys of Palolem registered a 2-0 win over Don Bosco Oratory , Fatorda 2-0 to clinch the CRCC Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Clube Recreativio E Cultural De Chinchinim at CRCC ground, Chinchinim on Saturday.
Post resumption, United Boys of Palolem started attacking from the flanks and broke the deadlock soon after resumption when Rehener D’Souza slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot off Terrence Lobo assist .
Stung by that setback, Don Bosco Oratory went all out and took the fight to the rival camp but their efforts were nullified by the stubborn rival defence. With Terrence Lobo and Ceatano Fernandes relentless attack, a second goal was imminent and it came in the finest moves.
Storming down the centre, Terrence turned down the rival defender and essayed a fine cross to Ceatano who made no mistake in pushing the ball past the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish.
Down by double blows, Don Bosco Oratory fired all blazing cylinders but rival rearguard were strong in thwarting the attacks with neat tackles.
United Boys of Palolem were richer by Rs 40,000 and a trophy while Don Bosco Oratory had to settle for Rs 30,000 and a trophy.
Paresh M Fal Dessai, Deputy Collector (Revenue) Margao was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Elvis Gomes, GFA president, Valentino Baretto, Deputy Sarpanch VP Chinchinim – Deussua , Anthony Pango GFA executive member and other dignitaries. In all 16 teams participated in the tournament.
