PANJIM: With just four more rounds to play, it’s a very crucial game for both Mohun Bagan, who are on verge of becoming the champions, and Sporting Clube de Goa, looking to move up in the points table, as they battle it out in the Hero I-League on May 16, at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, at 4.30 p.m.
Sporting Clube are currently on a five game unbeaten run where they have won two and drawn three. In their last encounter they defeated Bharat FC comfortably 2-0.
Their defender Sandesh Jhingan is still seating out with injury and Trinidad and Tobago striker Anthony Wolfe is suspended, but Nigerian talisman Odafa Okoli is back just in time from injury to play against his former team.
“Sandesh is injured and Wolfe is suspended, but Odafa is back from injury which will give us a boost,” remarked Sporting Clube coach Mathew Costa.
Mohun Bagan is at full strength, although central midfielder Denson Devdas is doubtful. “Devdas took a knock on his knee in practice so we will have to see if he has recovered,” stated Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen.
Sporting Clube are currently at the bottom of the table with 14 points from 16 games, while Mohun Bagan is top of the table with 32 points from the same number of matches.
