CHANDOR: USA defeated DPN 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the15th All Goa Seamen football tournament, organised by Villa Marex Boys, Chandor and played at Villa Marex ground, Chandor on Monday.
In the first half USA scored through Clinton who broke the deadlock in the 10th minute with a powerful shot. The winners led 1-0 at the break. Crossing ends, DPN pressed hard in search of the equaliser and finally levelled terms in the dying minutes of the game through Alvito who leapt highest to head in a cross past the helpless keeper. The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the normal time.
In the tie-breaker, USA scored through Alvito, Maclon, Clinton and Caji while Rayan, Velito and Rosario converted for the losers.
