MARGAO: Utorda Boys grounded Margao Sports Lovers 4-2 to move into the next round of the 8-a-side St Anthony Boys Agalli football tournament organized by St Anthony Boys of Agalli, at multipurpose ground Borda, here, on Friday. Utorda Boys were leading 2-1 at the lemon break.
In the fifth minute, Utorda Boys scored through Floyd Fernandes off an assist by Mathew Colaco.
Soon, Utorda Boys could have extended their lead in the 15th minute but Mathew shot wide from an ideal position. Five minutes later, Mathew was denied once again by the rival custodian.
In the next minute, Margao Sports Lovers equalized as Domnic Soares nodded in from close range.
Just before the lemon break, Mathew scored to put Utorda in a commanding position.
Crossing over, Utorda Boys dominated the proceedings and Floyd Fernandes made it 3-1 in the 41st minute through a powerful grounder.
Margao Sports Lovers did not give up and reduced the margin in the 43rd minute as Sneil Rodrigues headed in a Munna Monteiro delivery.
In the 58th minute, Utorda Boys made it 4-2 through Floyd Fernandes.
