Vagator PY SC down 10-man Assonora United FC

TUEM: Vagator Parish Youth SC defeated Assonora United FC 4-3 via the tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of the first inter village football tournament for the FC Tuem Champions Trophy, organised by FC Tuem in association with CAM group of Companies at DSYA ground, Tuem, on Sunday.

Both the teams started with attacking football. In the 20th minute Assonora scored through the boots of Gaurav Naik. In the 28th minute, Assonora could have doubled their tally when MA Francis’s shot hit the cross bar. Assonora were leading 1-0 at the half time. 

Soon after resumption, Soham Govekar of Vagator restored parity with a brilliant header. In the 40th minute of play MA Francis missed an open chance in front of the goal off cross from Chetan Shirodkar.

In the 53rd minute Mohammad Adur’s header hit the Assonora’s crossbar. In the dying minutes of the match Chetan Shirodkar was sent off by referee Jan Rodrigues for his second booking of the match. The match ended in 1-1 draw.

In the tie breaker, Vagator PY scored through C Virnodkar, Alton, Alrich and Nyron while for Assonora Vineet , Gaurish and Prajot were on target.
