RAIA: Vailankanni Calangute triumphed over Saligao United with a 3-0 victory to lift the Piyush Arambol Football Cup 2024, at Mount Carmel Church ground, Arambol, on Wednesday. Krishna of Siolim United was the standout player with his impressive dribbling, while Pedro played a key role for Vailankanni Calangute.
Pedro missed an early scoring opportunity in the 6th minute and Meaven from Siolim United narrowly missed the target. Vailankanni opened the scoring with a goal from Pedro in the 12th minute. Adarsh then extended their lead with a second goal in the 20th minute and scored again to secure the third goal for Vailankanni.
Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar was the chief guest and ex-MLA of the Siolim constituency Dayanand Mandrekar was the guest of honour. They presented the prizes in the presence of Fr Ronald Lin Fernandes, parish priest of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Arambol, along with other dignitaries and club officials.
