PANJIM: Vailankanni Merces entered the final of 4th London Cup organised by Siridao Sports Club defeating Boom Boom Dempo 4-1 at river plate Siridao Sports Club ground, on Sunday.
Vailankanni Merces started the match with well-controlled shot passes and Newton opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a well placed shot in the rival goal.
Boom Boom Dempo in search of an equaliser played one touch game. Soon the efforts bore fruits, with Gautam bringing the score on the level terms after receiving a pass from Akshay.
Crossing over, both the teams regrouped with renewed ideas and from the word go the players played their hearts out to find the winning goal.
Vailankanni Merces took the advantage of the fast and furious situation and again Newton made an impressive move and netted his second goal to complete his brace for the team.
Boom Boom Dempo did not gave up in finding the much needed equaliser but the Devandre’s try was saved by the rival keeper.
Boom Boom Dempo tried several moves in the rival citadel but Merces keeper was equal to the task to guard the goal.
Later, Vailankanni Merces took control of the match and scored two goals in quick successions with the efforts of Suraj and Krishan.
