MAPUSA: Varca Veterans got the better of Siolim Veteran 3-1 to move into the next round of the All Goa Veterans Soccer, organised by Saligao Sporting Club, played at Saligao grounds, on Monday.
In the first half, both teams played possession play with quick passing and worked on the counters to find the breakthrough.
Despite an exciting first half, both the teams failed to score as all the goals came in the second session of play.
It was Caetan Charles who broke the deadlock for Varca when he made his way into the Siolim 18-yard box before slamming the ball home, 1-0.
Couple of minutes later Varca further inflated the margin through Selwyn Baretto who managed to get the better of the keeper before tapping the ball into the nets, 2-0.
Rohan Fernandes managed to give the winners a three goal lead through a long range effort to take the match beyound Saligao reach..
Towards the end of regulation time, Siolim managed to reduce the margin through the boots of Sebastian Fernandes, 1-3.
