In the first half, Varca were leading 1-0. They dominated the ball possession and in the 7th minute should have surged ahead through Johnus D’Costa but his shot was blocked by Betalbatim defence.
Betalbatim in their try in the 11th minute also failed to open an account when Robert Fernandes shot sailed over the crosspiece of Varca off a supply by Austin Fernandes. It took 18 minutes for Varca to take the lead through Johnus D’Costa’s grounder off an assist by Velroy Rocha.
Crossing over, Varca doubled the lead in the 43rd minute through Tennyson Rocha’s snap shot off a cross by Johnus.
Betalbatim made an attempt to equalise in the 45th minute but Austin Fernandes long ranger was blocked by Varca defence.
