RAIA: Varca Sports Club defeated St Sebastian UC, 2-1, to advance to the quarterfinals of the St Sebastian Union inter-village football tournament, at Dando football ground, Benaulim.Jason Fernandes scored the opening goal for Varca in the 16th minute. While Benaulim sought an equaliser, Varca extended their lead with Jobern Cardozo’s goal in the 26th minute, concluding the first half at 2-0.
Benaulim’s Keegan Fernandes rekindled hope with a 32nd-minute goal, but Varca’s shift to a defensive strategy in the final quarter stifled Benaulim’s efforts. Despite relentless attacks, Benaulim couldn’t find the equaliser, and Varca held firm to secure victory.
