CARMONA: Varca SC got the better of Sarzora SC 3-1 to move into the semi-finals of the John Cruz Ferrao Memorial Cup football tournament organised by Carmona Sports Club, at village panchayat ground, Carmona, on Sunday.
Both the teams played an attacking brand of football but it was Varca’s Clovis Gonsalves who broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute.
Varca further inflated the lead through Joylan Cardozo in the 24th minute. Sarzora’s Frankey Oliveira pulled a goal back in the 42 nd minute.
Later, Varca netted their third in the 59th minute through Klinnson Pereira. Macklin Mascarenhas of Varca SC was adjudged as man-of-the-match.
