PEDDA-BENAULIM: Varca Veterans came from behind to defeat Nuvem Veterans 6-4 in the tie-breaker to enter into the quarter-finals of the 1st all Goa UK/US boys Veterans soccer tournament organised by Mix Friends Benaulim, at Xembu Moll ground, Benaulim, on Sunday.
Nuvem shocked Varca when their striker shot past keeper Leo Martins in the 12th minute to open the account. However the joy was short-lived as Varca restored parity two minutes before break through Andrew D’Souza.
After change of ends, Varca went into lead again through Henry.
However, Francis Colaco scored from close range to take the game into tie-breaker.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Varca turned out to be better shooters.
