PANJIM: Vasco Sports Club blanked Curtorim Gymkhana 4-2 in the GFA’s Under-20 Taca Goa match at Cansaulim ground, on Friday.
In the first half, Vasco SC were leading 2-1.
From the start, the teams played an attacking game but the defence controlled the proceedings and prevented the strikers from scoring in the first 20 minutes of play.
Vasco SC in the very 3rd minute would have surged ahead but London Singh’s long ranger was blocked by Curtorim Gymkhana defender Sagar Salunke.
Vasco SC opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Kingslee Fernandes after receiving the ball from John Fernandes dribbled past Curtorim Gymkhana defender Tyrone Fernandes and placed it coolly into the nets.
Kingslee again scored in the 33rd minute with a well composed grounder off a London’s supply to complete his brace.
In the 41st minute, Ladson Fernandes sent a through pass for Crasten Araujo, who made no mistake to tap the ball from his right foot inside the rival goal.
Change of ends saw Vasco SC’s frontline dominating with London and John upfront.
Kingslee, who was at his best, completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute giving Vasco SC the upper hand 3-1.
Curtorim Gymkhana reduced the margin later after Ladson converted a penalty kick. Vasco SC defender pulled down Crasten of Curtorim Gymkhana in the goal area and referee awarded a penalty kick.
In the 79th minute, London Singh volleyed a shot which hit the upright of Curtorim Gymkhana crossbar and sailed into the nets.
