Vasco SC humble Curtorim Gym, Calangute Association win

RAIA: Vasco Sports Club came all guns blazing as they humbled relegation battling Curtorim Gymkhana 3-0 goals in the Goa Pro League match, at Cuncolim ground, on Wednesday.
In the first half, Vasco SC had the upper hand in all the departments with Jerose Oliveira and Chinedu Ejioeu tormenting the Curtorim Gymkhana defence.
In the eighth minute, Jerose Oliveira collected a ball from Kingslee Fernandes, dribbled past Curtorim Gymkhana defender Minesh Kunkolikear but his powerful shot was saved by goalkeeper Muhamad Shaikh.
The young Curtorim Gymkhana team with U-20 player Robinson Colaco tried to create a threat when he passed the ball to Josly Costa in the 15th minute but the latter’s effort kissed the horizontal bar and went out of play.
Soon, Vasco SC substitute Agnelo D’Souza fired a close ranger off a rebound to break the deadlock in the 20th minute after his initial attempt was blocked by the rival custodian.
Curtorim Gymkhana tried hard to regroup and bounce back into the match but they had themselves to blame for squandering golden opportunities. 
Right at the half hour mark, Hanslum Furtado ballooned over the horizontal bar after being set up by Gopi Gad but Vasco SC had a luck escape. 
However, Vasco SC doubled their advantage as Jerose fired the ball from the top of the box after being assisted by U-20 Melroy Dias in the 41st minute.
At the change of ends, both teams attacked fiercely and in the 46th minute, Hanslum Furtado should have scored for Curtorim Gymkhana but the shot wide of a rebound. 
Thereafter, Varney Kallon and Sujil NS were wasteful as they shot blindly in the 67th and 78th minutes after assists from Vasco SC skipper Chinedu Ejiogu.
In the dying minutes of the match, Vasco SC added another goal as Chinedu Ejiogo gave finishing touches to a supply by Melroy in the 83rd minute.
In another match, at Raia panchayat ground, Calangute Association got the better of Guardian Angel SC with Nigerian striker Felix Chidili scored the match-winner after an assist from Yogesh Kadam in the 15th minute.
Guardian Angel SC did create danger in search of the equalizer but Ali Kone shot wide in the 20th minute.
In the second half, the ball was mostly confined to the midfield. Calangute Association’s Yogesh Kadam fired two long rangers in the 56th and 60th minute which were eventually dealt by the rival custodian.
Thereafter, Guardian Angel SC had another go in the final quarter but former India international Anthony Pereira’s dangerous run inside the rival territory was foiled by the defence of Calangute Association.
