Vasco SC rally to hold Churchill Bros to a 2-2 draw

Calangute Association score easy win against Young Boys of Tonca

RAIA: Vasco SC came from behind to hold Churchill Brothers to a 2-2 draw in the GFA Professional League match played at SAG ground, Benaulim, on Wednesday.

Both teams went on an attacking mode from the word go. Vasco SC’s striker Lalnunzama’s move to score goal was foiled by Churchill Brothers defender Vedant Naik in the second minute. On the other side, Churchill Brothers midfielder Jobern Cardozo’s shot missed the Vasco SC target by whiskers in the 4th minute. 

Immediately, a slight error and misunderstanding by the Vasco SC goalkeeper and defenders, was well utilised by Churchill Brothers striker Kangujam Borish Singh, who was prowling nearby taking advantage of the situation took a long range shot which coolly sailed into the Vasco SC net in the 6th minute.

Later in the 44th minute, Churchill Brothers midfielder substitute Shario Gomes doubled the lead.

As the match progressed in the second half, Vasco SC netted two quick goals through Lalnunzama in the 81st minute and substitute defender Samaresh Mondal in the 99+6 minute.

Calangute Association made the light work of Young Boys of Tonca with a 5-0 win at Nagao ground. Pedro Gonsalves put his team ahead in the game in the 33rd minute. That was the only goal scored in the first half.

Later, Joywin Carneiro doubled the account and once they were up by two goals; Calangute Association took total control and scored three more goals through Aman Govekar brace and a goal from Pandurang Gauns.
