CURTORIM: Vasco Veterans defeated Bardez Veterans 4-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the Curtorim Veterans football tournament, at DYSA Curtorim ground, on Friday.
The first half was dominated by Vasco Veterans while Bardez Veterans defended well and tried to keep the rival strikers at bay.
Vishant Pednekar for Vasco Veterans made fine moves and hit a shot on target as took control of the ball after Alex Alvares sent a well measured ball through the defense line however the shot got the deflection of Lawrence Quadros, defender of Vasco and was saved by Domnic D’Souza, goalkeeper of Vasco Veterans in the tenth minute.
Bruno Coutinho of Bardez Veterans connected to a ball sent in by Pratap Sawanth on the left flank but Pratap’s move was foiled by Uday Naik, defender of Vasco in the 13th minute.
Vasco Veterans yet again went in to find the breakthrough however Vishant Pednekar’s long ranger was blocked by Ramesh of Bardez in the 20th minute.
Bruno Coutinho and Narendra Gad of Bardez missed two glorious opportunities in the 42nd and 49th minutes respectively.
Both the teams were locked in a goalless draw at the end of the normal regulation time.
In the resultant tie-breaker Vasco Veterans scored through Vishant Pednekar, Shaik Naizi, Alex Alvares and Uday Naik while Allwyn Fernandes and Narendra Gad netted for Bardez Veterans.
