RAIA: Augustine Misquita was on target as Vasco Veterans advanced to the semi-finals with a 1-0 win against Siolim Veterans in the 3rd Assolna Veterans Football Cup at Assolna ground, on Tuesday.
Vasco had the early share of exchanges and it was Patrocino Pereira who came closest when he advanced menacingly from the left only to find Bharat Morje making a fine save.
Vasco got a second chance in the 15th minute, but Morje saved Siolim yet again with a smart save off Patrocino.
Vasco finally got a much-needed break in the 22nd minute when Augustine Misquita cashed in on a defensive lapse to slam home past Morje.
Siolim Veterans nearly got the equaliser five minutes into the second half, but Anthony shot straight into the waiting hands of Vasco goalkeeper John Dias.
With both sides tiring, Siolim Veterans started enjoying a better share of exchanges, but were unlucky they couldn’t find the target.
Fatorda Veterans will meet Calangute Veterans in Wednesday’s second quarter-finals.
