SINQUETIM: Vasco Veterans secured a hard-fought 5-4 tie-breaker win (1-1 full-time) against Chinchinim Veterans to book their place in the semi-finals of the Above 50 competition of the GVFC Veterans Football, at the Sinquetim ground.
Vasco Veterans took the lead when Nagesh found the back of the net from inside the area.
Chinchinim didn’t have to wait long to find the equaliser as Aldrin’s looping header found the far corner past Joao Fernandes on the Vasco goal.
Both teams went all out for the match-winner and Vasco came closest, but the Chinchinim goalkeeper flung himself to his right to deny an Alaric Gomes’ attempt.
In the tie-breaker, Alaric, Jack, Nagesh, Nelson and Agnelo converted for Vasco.
Jerry, Inacio, Aldrin and Baptist converted for Chinchinim, Joao Fernandes saved off Mahesh to ensure Vasco Veterans advance to the semifinals against Verna Veterans.
