PANJIM: Sesa Football Academy (SFA) kicked-off the 7-a-side Vedanta Football Championship in Bicholim Taluka, as a step forward in SFA’s mission to identify, nurture, and groom young footballing talents.
Over 350 youth from Bicholim Taluka, participated.
Dr Chandrakant Shetye, MLA, Premendra Shet, MLA, Dheerajkumar Jagdish, Leena Verenkar were among those present.
Meanwhile, Vedanta Sesa Goa in line with its commitment towards women’s empowerment and nurturing youth through sports inaugurated its first girls football centre in Amona.
The event was attended by Krishna Gawas, Amona Sarpanch, Severino Fernandes, Head Coach, Senior Women’s Sesa Football Academy, Ulas Gaonkar, Sanjay Patil, Narendra Sinari, Yogita Narvekar, Ramdas Sawant and executives from Vedanta Sesa Goa.
With the target group being girls aged between 6 to 14 years old, the centre is poised to create a pool of talented players.Yashwant Parab, from Vedanta Amona Plant, also spoke.
