Vedanta’s Sesa Goa creates badminton infrastructure in Bicholim, reinforces support for Fit India Movement

BICHOLIM: In line with the Fit India movement, a national initiative that was rolled out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vedanta’s Value-Added Business (VAB) has built and developed an outdoor badminton court at Bicholim police station with the objective of promoting awareness about fitness and sports among communities members. 

Recently, Vedanta also provided cricket kits to police personnel at Bicholim.

The outdoor badminton court developed at Bicholim was inaugurated in the presence of  Shobhit Saxena- SP, North Goa, Sandesh Chodankar- Dy. SP, Mahesh Gadekar- Police Inspector, Bicholim, Nand Bhatt- Chief Security Officer, Iron Ore Business, Santosh Mandrekar- Head, North Cluster Mining, Vedanta’s Iron Ore Goa and other dignitaries.  Shobhit Saxena and staff of Bicholim Police station appreciated Vedanta’s continuous interventions in supporting sports and fitness among the communities. 

Speaking at the inauguration of the Badminton Court,  Shobhit Saxena, SP-North Goa said, “We are very thankful to Vedanta and this will help us tremendously in improving the fitness of the police team. We have always had good co-operation from Vedanta and its security team and we are hoping to continue this. I, on behalf of the entire Goa police, thank Vedanta for the beautiful initiative.”

Sauvick Mazumdar, CEO- Iron & Steel Sector, Vedanta Limited appreciated VAB team for the development of the sports facility at Bicholim Police station and said: “At Vedanta our constant endeavor is to contribute towards the holistic development of communities and sports development is one of the major thrust areas of our community development programs. We believe sports is a very important field to engage with our stakeholders and communities.”
