MARGAO: Velsao Sports and Cultural Club defeated St Sebastian Union Club, Benaulim 2-0 vie tie-breaker in the Village Panchayat Cup Seraulim, organised by United Sports Club Seraulim, at Seraulim ground, on Sunday.
Goalkeeper Kattimani saved all penalties in the shootout. Benaulim started the match on the front foot and scored first through Jaison Pereira in the 20th minute.
Benaulim doubled the lead in the 22nd minute through Faizal Bepari.
In the 29th minute, Domnic Soares narrowed the gap for Velsao from the spot kick.
In the second half, Velsao came back strongly and equalised in the 5th minute through Chadwick Furtado.
The goal boosted the Velsao team’s spirit and they took the lead for the first time in the game in the 60th minute though Domnic.
Down by the goal, Benaulim pressed hard in search of the equaliser and managed to level terms in the dying minutes of the game through Vishal Fernandes.
In the tie-breaker, Domnic and Domnic Soares converted for Velsao.
