PANJIM: Velsao Sports and Cultural Club recorded their second upset of the season with a 2-1 win over Churchill Brothers SC in the Goa Football Association U-20 Taca Goa League match played at Dramapur ground, on Wednesday.
Velsao SCC started the match earnestly and played their hearts out against a determined Churchill Brothers SC.
They took the lead in the 15th minute through Kashinath Rathod in the 15th minute.
However, Churchill Brothers SC made it all square in the 35th minute as the teams played out a 1-1 draw at the break.
Changing ends, it was end to end affair but Velsao SCC had the upper hand and they deservingly took the lead in the 71st minute once again which turned out to be the match-winner.
Meanwhile in another game, Vincy scored the lone goal of the game as Goan FC registered a solitary goal win over Salgaocar Football Club at Cansaulim ground.
In the Goa Football Association U-20 Division Two, Football Club Mardol ran riot over Shree Nagesh Maharudra Sports Club.
Mahendra Shirvoikar scored a brace for the winning side while Xavier and Shubham Shirvoikar netted a goal each to take the side’s tally to 4-0.
