RAIA: Verna SC edged past SC Davorlim 7-6 via tie-breaker to move into final of 1st Antonio Rebelo memorial football tournament organised by Curtorim Gymkhana, at DSYA ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday.
Verna SC scored the first goal through Ajay Satarkar in the 12 minute.
SC Davorlim created good chances but their strikers failed to score in easy chances. In second half, SC Davorlim equalised through William Niasso in the 54th minute from a penalty kick when Donald Rocha was brought down by Verna SC defender Cyrus Noronha to make it 1-1.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Verna SC scored through Andrus John, Joyston Pinho, Clifton Rebello, Kevin Correia, Eusebio Fernandes and Pranav Kotharkar, while for SC Davorlim William Niasso, Adarsh Rajmir, Prince Figuerido, Ali Khan and Donald Rocha were on target.
Imamsab Gulegudda of Verna SC was presented the man-of-the-match award by Alex Dias, former Curtorim Gymkhana player and coach.
