RAIA: Verna SC defeated Fr Agnel YC, Paroda, 2-1 and moved into the semifinals of the 40th Sao Jose Areal Panchayat Cup played at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal.
Paroda opened the scoreline through Shelton Fernandes in the 12th minute than Verna netted a brace through Andrus John in the 49th and 55th minutes, respectively.
It was a tense and tough match in which both the teams fought hard till the final whistle. Man-of-the-match was awarded to Lennon Pereira of Verna SC at the hands of Sao Jose de Areal ex-player and football promoter Custodio Endro. Verna will meet Betalbatim SC in the semifinals on October 7.
