FATORDA: Verna Sports and Cultural Association edged past Colmorod Ratwaddo Sports Club 2-1, to march into the semi-finals of the Goa Football Association’s U-14 League (play-off’s), at Artificial Turf, Fatorda, on Wednesday.
Either of the teams restricted to midfield play however, the Verna side were hungry for goals from the beginning and made constant attacks on the rival territory before they finally found the breakthrough in the 35th minute through Kesor Padhaya.
At half-time the scores read 1-0 in favour of the Verna side.
Post resumption, it didn’t take long for the Navelim side to draw level as Fredlon Gomes brilliantly shot the ball home in the 41st minute to make it all square.
However, the Verna side bounced back in the 59th minute to restore their lead in the 59th minute as Akif Sayed put away a brilliant cross by Mysler Braganca to take his team into the semis.
Verna Sports and Cultural Association will now face Salcete Football Club on February 12.
