RAIA: In a thrilling encounter between Verna Sports Club and Curtorim Gymkhana, Verna, emerged victorious over Curtorim Gymkhana 4-2 via the tie-breaker to enter into the finals of the 16th Super Soccer tournament organised by United Club of Benaulim and being played at St John the Baptist Dando ground, Benaulim, on Friday.
In the dying moments, Curtorim Gymkhana faced some nerve-wracking situations but held on, leading the match to a tiebreaker. Verna’s Fulganco, Sairon, Andrus and Clifton delivered remarkable goals, while Curtorim’s Freddy and Marcus responded with their own strikes. Man of the Match honours were bestowed upon Fulganco Cardozo by Fr Anthony Carvalho assistant Parish Priest of St John the Baptist Church, Benaulim, for his outstanding contribution in defence.
