PANJIM: In an absorbing Salcete zone semi-final, Sportsweek, Margao beat Arlem convincingly by seven wickets of the Salcete zone B Division Cricket tournament, organized by the Goa Cricket Association, at Arlem ground, on Thursday.
Winning the toss and batting, the Arlem batsmen had to struggle against tight Sportsweek bowling and folded for 159 in 35.5 overs.
Only Amol Nilgude (51) could counter the professional bowling by Sportsweek. Vicky (3 for 30) was the pick of Sportsweek bowlers while Heramb Parab (2 for 32) and Amey Kossambe (2 for 45) supported him well.
Knocks by Sujay Kamat (21), Nagappa Konnur (31) and then it was Vicky Nevgi (52) who anchored the innings with a cameo by Ashish Patnekar (33 not out). Nilgude, Joshi and Paul took one wicket each.
Sportsweek take on the winners of Polem and Tarvalem in the Salcete final.
