FATORDA: Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai unveiled the foundation stone for the installation of artificial turf, for the We For Fatorda Ground, near Keni Baab, Murida, Fatorda, on Sunday.
Speaking at the function, Vijai said, “This is our project so that the children can play freely. This astro turf ground will be easy to maintain. The estimated cost of this project is around a crore.”
“Football is in the Goan blood but the sport is becoming cold now as the budding talent is not given much encouragement. The younger generation are less involved in sports with the emergence of smart phone culture. We have to take the initiative to promote fitness as well,” he added.
Earlier, Parish priest Fr Carmo Martins blessed the foundation stone in the presence of the Fatorda MLA and other dignitaries.
