Vintage 73 edge past Quitula

MAPUSA: Vintage 73 SC played their hearts out to register a 2-1 win over Quitula SC in the inaugural match of the U-15 Khelo India Women’s football league held at Duler stadium here on Tuesday.

Vintage 73 eves did have better of the ball possession and attacks at the rival goal where in the 22nd minute Vanshika Shetgaonkar scored from inside the penalty box 1-0.

On crossing over in the 37th minute Quitula’s Mrunmayi Pednekar equalized on entering the 18-yard box, 1-1.

Just four minutes later Vintage once again took the lead through the boots of Gunjan Shetgaonkar who scored from a goalmouth melee 2-1.

At the start of the match chief guest Apoorva Manda, Asst Director of Sports Authority of India (Regional Head Mumbai) and Dr Caitan Fernandes-President of GFA, were introduced of the players and match officials.

Apoorva also addressed the gathering before the start of the second session.
