BENAULIM: Viva North Veterans, Bardez beat Verna Veterans 4-2 via the tie-breaker to enter the final of the 2nd All Goa SAI Veterans Football Tournament organised by SAI Veterans Football Association, at Trinity ground, Benaulim.
In an exciting match where the match was played at a fast pace both goalkeepers were the heroes who came up with excellent saves.
Verna would have been 2-0 up in the first half itself but the Viva North keeper Jude Fenandes was the star saving his team twice off Vishant Pednekar and Vincent Colaco’s attempts.
Whereas for Viva North, Allwyn Fernandes and Genive Fernandes played well and Verna keeper John Fernandes also managed to come up with crucial saves in the second half.
The match ended goalless.
In the tie-breaker, Menino Miranda, Allwyn Fernandes, Anbrosio Fernandes and Shankar Palyiencar converted for Viva North while Vishant Pednekar , Nelson Landez, Vincent Colaco scored for Verna.
Viva North Veterans will now meet the winners of Hosts SAI Veterans and Quepem Veterans match which will be played on July 7.
