CHORAO: Wadeshwar Sports Club of Saddetim won by 30 runs to win the all-Chorao limited overs tennis ball cricket tournament organised in memory of late Shivanand Chodanakar by Friends of Shivanand after defeating Chafeshwar Cricketers of Saude , at Saude ground, Chorao, recently.
Electing to bat, Wadeshwar put up a score of 50 runs in 3 overs, while Chafeshwar were bundled out for just 20 runs.
Winners were awarded Rs. 5,000 plus trophy while runners-up received Rs. 3,000 plus trophy.
Individual prizes for best performance were given to Man-of-the-Series: Ajay Naik (Strikers), Man-of-the-Match in the final: Yatin Chodankar, Best bowler: Jaganath Chodankar (Wadeshwar), Best batsman: Anthony Fernandes (Chafeshwar) and Discipline team: Baby doll team.
In all 18 teams participated in the tournament.
Social worker Gajanand Chodankar, Yeshwant Chodankar, Mahesh Pednekar and Gurudas Volvaikar were the guests and they gave away the prizes to the winners.
