PANJIM: FC Goa skipper Edu Bedia felt this is the best FC Goa side in last five years and definitely stands a chance to go all the way through but taking each game at a time as his side faces rivals Mumbai City FC in their opening ISL campaign at Fatorda.
“I’m very clear. I think we have the best team in the last five years. We have a big opportunity but we have to be careful with some details. The only thing is the next game, not thinking about the trophy, the shield – only the next game,” stated FC Goa’s Edu Bedia , who has made 86 appearances for the home side in the last five years.
FC Goa recently won the Durand Cup, and the senior most player will look to ride on this success in the ISL.
“The Durand Cup was good for us because in some games, we had a lot of problems with the timing, pitches and other things. Now we are even stronger, like a team, and I think our confidence increased with what we won at the Durand Cup,” said the FC Goa skipper.
The Spanish midfielder was also asked about the first two matches of the 2021-22 ISL season. Both matches saw six goals apiece, with ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC picking up 4-2 wins over Kerala Blasters and NorthEast United respectively.
Bedia provided his views on the game, stating that he felt none of the coaches would have been particularly happy about the two matches. “I think that the coaches of these teams are not happy with the results because a lot of goals [conceded] in one game is not a good feeling. I think we have to think only [about] ourselves, in our team and not think [about] other teams or other games and that will be better for us,” said Bedia.
