LUCKNOW: India’s wicketkeeper and opening batsman KL Rahul has underlined that the Men in Blue are taking the struggling defending champions England very seriously.
Speaking to mediapersons on the eve of India’s game number six at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, “We will not go by what happened in England’s last four games. They are a dangerous side.”
Rahul, who has been in sublime form ever since he returned to the team after a layoff in the Asia Cup scoring a sparkling century and narrowly missing out on a hundred in India’s first game against Australia in Chennai was asked what are the factors that makes this India team different, said, “Aggressive preparations which are spot on, payers being given enough space and time to play their roles, and a great environment where everyone is in a happy frame of mind.”
Reminded by a reporter that this was the very ground on which he sustained his injury in the IPL which kept him out of the game for six months, he said jokingly, “I want to forget but you guys keep reminding me. But yes it is tough to get back from an injury. It’s tougher than when you are not in form. I managed to shut out the outside notice.”
Rahul also hinted that Surya Kumar Yadav is a certainty in the playing XI on Sunday. “Hardik’s absence is something we have to deal with. We have Surya Kumar Yadav and we know what he can do.”
