PANJIM: FC Goa coach Juan Ferrando lamented his side’s performance as they went down 0-3 to Mumbai City FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) on Monday.

A brace from Igor Angulo and a strike from Ygor Catatau won the contest for Mumbai City FC as Ferrando was especially critical of his side’s defending on transitions.

“The weak link was in transitions all the time. When we were playing in attack, we lost control of the areas and then in a lot of transitions, Mumbai had more chances against us. I think it’s a big problem for us because when we are in attack, it’s important to pay attention to the counter-attacks,” stated coach Juan Ferrando.

The defeat brought an end to the Gaurs’ league record of going 15 games unbeaten.

“There were a lot of details (that were missing). It’s not possible to talk about one point or two points, (we have to do) detail by detail study,” he expressed.

“But the most important thing for the dressing room is to control the emotions,” he added.

Last season’s golden boot winner with FC Goa Igor Angulo made his debut for Mumbai on Monday and continued his rich goal scoring form scoring twice against his former club.

“I know Igor is a good No 9. Last season everyone knows him and of course he is a good boy, he is a good player. But for us it’s not about thinking about just one player, it’s thinking about the team. Of course Igor did very well to score but the team was perfect in transitions. In this case it was a success of Igor and the team.,” stated Juan Ferrando.

The Spaniard urged his team to control their emotions as they aim to bounce back against Jamshedpur FC on Friday.

Meanwhile, the former FC Goa striker Igor didn’t hide his emotions but kept them loud by celebrating both his goals for the new club. Reflecting on his performance on the night, the striker said, “I am super happy. For us, it was super important to start winning for our confidence. We won very fairly, we certainly want to score more goals. In the first half we had one penalty that the referee didn’t give, one crossbar, I think we could score even more goals.”
