PANJIM: Wesley do Rosario, Tanisi Kirtani, Urmila Mense have been named captains for cadets, sub-juniors at 74th National inter-state TT tournament to be held in Gandhidam, according to Goa table Tennis Association (GTTA).
Wesley Do Rosario (Fomento Resources), who recently won glory for Goa when he became the first ever Goan to win a national table tennis crown, has been named captain of both the cadet and the sub-junior boys teams. Incidentally, Wesley is also ranked No 2 in India in the cadets category. Young and energetic Tanisi Kirtani has been named captain of the cadet girls team while Urmila Mense will lead the sub-junior girls team. Secretary of GTTA, Ashok Mhambrey, will be the manager and Irwin Cordo coach.
After a good showing in the nationals in the last two years, the team is brimming with enthusiasm. The grit and determination of the youngsters seems at a high. Last year the cadets boys team reached upto the quarter-finals while the previous year, the sub-juniors won the bronze. Team Goa: Cadet Boys: Wesley (captain), Vaidik Shrivastava, Varun Gangodkar, Mandar Joshi. Cadet girls: Tanisi, (captain), Prutha Parrikar, Nandita Das, Rithika Ganti.
Sub-junior boys: Wesley (captain), Manguesh Sakordekar, Pranav Naik.
Sub-junior girls: Urmila Mense (captain), Tanisi Kirtani, Arantxa Noronha and Komal Salgaonkar.
