MARGAO: Wilred Leisure, Curtorim blanked Curtorim Gymkhana 3-0 in a GFA First Division League at Curtorim ground, Wednesday. Wilred led 1-0 at the break.
Wilred’s Melvin Fernandes had a few shots as they went into the attack in the first quarter. They went into the lead in the 41st when Meldon Silva slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a stiff shot after being fed by Bruno Fernandes.
Wilred were in commanding position after the break and doubled the lead in the 79th through substitute striker Tony Dias off Bruno Fernandes.
Curtorim Gymkhana tried their best to score but Bruno Fernandes was rock solid.
Wilred rounded off the tally in the 81st through Melvin Fernandes off Andrew Colaco.
Curtorim muffed a golden opportunity in the 87th minute when they were awarded a spot kick. However, Xavier Dias’ try was blocked by goalkeeper Olivier D’Souza.
Wilred moved to second spot with 10 points from 5
matches displacing Curtorim Gymkhana to third place on better goal difference.
