Wilred Leisure Sports Club, Curtorim shunted out St Savio Sports Club , Calangute 7- 5 via the tie-breaker to cruise into the quarter-finals of 29th Gold Silver Rolling Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Navelim Sporting Club at Rosary ground, Navelim on Wednesday. Wilred led 2-0 at the break.
Agnel Martins put Wilred into the lead in the 5th minute.
Spurred by the early success, Wilred’s Leslie Fernandes doubled the lead with a stiff shot after picking up a pass from Agnel Martins.
St Savio retaliated and Francis Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement.Wilred struck the equaliser through Sayeed late in the second half.
In the penalty shoot out, Agnel Martins, Luis Cardozo, Savio Fernandes, Bruno Fernandes and Royston Carneiro were on target for Wilred while Francis Fernandes, Alex Fernandes and Ankush Kalangutkar converted for St Savio.
