PANJIM: Wilred Leisure grounded Goa Velha Sports Club 2-0 to move into quarter-finals of Cavelossim Panchayat Cup football organized by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim at Fr Drunston and
Wilred dominated right from the word go. They surged ahead through Melvin Fernandes after the last named picked up an intelligent through pass from Sertorio Monterio and shot past the rival goalkeeper.
Subsequently, Wilred’s Tony Dias sent in a dangerous floater to James Fernandes, who was late to get his foot on the ball from hand-shaking distance.
James was moving dangerously in the rival territory but was unlucky yet again after his rasping shot hit the horizontal.
Wilred maintained the lion’s share of ball possession and scored their second off a set-piece after Bruno Fernandes’ well-measured free-kick was powerfully headed in by Tony.
